CosBots to licence Botswana talent

A nationwide campaign to inform and educate the public on matters relating to copyright is expected to begin end of next month as the Copyright Society of Botswana (CosBots) moves to negotiate and licence the country's talent January 2012.

Speaking at a National Broadcasting Board (NBB) Conference held in Gaborone recently, CosBots chief executive officer, Thato Mokobi said the organisation would protect any original production in the literary, scientific and artistic domain, regardless of its mode or form.

He said that the collection and distribution of royalties would encourage the development of creative, artistic and economic endeavours, as well as enhance quality of output. "CosBots, through its mandate of collection and distribution of royalties, will strive to ensure members derive maximum benefit whenever their works are used commercially and for publicity," he said.
