The cost of fuel, electricity, and commuter fares is expected to rise from April 1, piling pressure on consumers who have endured two successive economic contractions marked by stagnant wages, weak employment opportunities, and a steady upward price trend.

The Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority (BERA) is due to announce the quantum of tariff increase agreed with the government, after the Botswana Power Corporation lodged an application for an average 46% increase in tariffs from April 2026.
