Consultants due to draft new �Vision 2016�

Amidst what is widely acknowledged as the failure of Botswana’s Vision 2016, the Office of the President has announced plans for a new long-term vision to carry the country forward beyond 2016.

Vision 2016 is the country’s long-term strategy to drive its socio-economic development, with seven key goals developed towards the realisation of the vision. Two years before it lapses in 2016, the OP has said it will begin work on a new long-term plan, tentatively dubbed “Beyond Vision 2016”.

At a Public Accounts Committee (PAC) meeting this week, acting permanent secretary in the Ministry of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Arnold Madikwe said the ministry would, in the near future, engage a consultant to draft the plan.  Madikwe told the committee that he could not estimate the consultancy’s projected costs.
