Coming soon: Household water prepaid metres

The Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) is set to roll out installation of pre-paid metres in homes beginning April, starting with the greater Gaborone area, which accounts for 70 percent of its annual revenues.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Godfrey Mudanga told Mmegi yesterday that the infrastructure involved in the project would cost P500 million with a timeline of three years for completion.  The corporation, however, is hoping to fast track the project and have it done within two years.

Mudanga said the government has provided for the costs of the project in the 2014/15 budget.
