Close to 2,000 churches registered

Question: Philip Makgalemele ssked the Minister of Labour and Home Affairs to state the number of churches he has registered and those deregistered since the beginning of the National Development Plan 10 period, his interpretation of the figures in relation to Botswana’s population and traditional religious culture; if he is aware of concerns by most Batswana on the mushrooming and conduct of some churches as well as concerns raised by members of Ntlo ya Dikgosi during the 10th Parliament on this particular matter and specific steps he has taken.

Response: My ministry has registered 1,820 churches and de-registered 44 churches since the beginning of the National Development Plan 10;
