Civil servants seek intervention of ex-presidents

MOLEPOLOLE: Striking civil servants have petitioned the chairman of the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) Daniel 'DK' Kwelagobe and former presidents, Sir Ketumile Masire and Festus Mogae to go to President Ian Khama and tell him about their poor working conditions.

The civil servants, who came in large numbers to meet DK, made it clear that they want him to  engage the former presidents to approach Khama by tomorrow when the strike ends.

"We humbly request your team that comprises of former presidents Sir Ketumile Masire and Festus Mogae to relay our concerns to President Ian Khama. We do so mindful of the following facts; that you have served as a Member of Parliament, minister; held leadership positions in the ruling party under the leadership of the following heads of state Sir Seretse Khama, who is also the father of incumbent president, Sir Ketumile Masire and Rre Mogae and the current President Ian Khama.
