The Parliamentary Select Committee of Inquiry into the Botswana Meat Commission and the Decline of the Botswana Beef Industry has called for a land audit on the disposal and leasing of BMC's land.

In its report released on Tuesday, the committee says a demonstrable feature of poor corporate governance at the BMC has been its inability to properly manage its land resources.

 “A case in point is its land transaction with the Lobatse Town Council around the year 2009-2010 entailing the exchange of a large tract of BMC land approximately some 20 hectares in Lobatse for the construction of (a) Sports Complex in exchange (for) some 119 serviced residential plots,” the report says.
