In a surprising turn of events, the Botswana Society for the Deaf (BSD) has hauled before the Industrial Court 35 of its employees who, for the past two weeks, had downed tools protesting the non-payment of their April salaries.

The BSD on Friday morning hauled the employees, all based at Ramotswa Centre for Deaf Education, before court on an urgent application, seeking the court to declare the boycott illegal and to direct them to return to work.

Although the matter was scheduled for court on Friday morning, there was no judge available to hear it.  The case is expected to be heard this morning.
