Botswana's human development improved - UNDP flagship 2010 report

GABORONE: UNDP's flagship publication, the 2010 Human Development Report (HDR) released yesterday shows that Botswana's human development has improved steadily between 1980-2010. In the Human Development Index ranking for 2010, Botswana stands at 98 out of 169 countries, up from 125 in 2009, an improvement of 15 points since 1980.

Botswana is reported to have made striking progress in all non-health measures of the Human Development Index (HDI), e.g., per capita income, education, access to basic services such as water and sanitation. 

However, the health related component of life expectancy, fell sharply from 65.3 years in 1991 to about 55.5 years in 2010.
