Botswana's diamond miracle comes full circle

Today a new era dawns in Botswana as over 70 international diamantaires from around the world converge in Gaborone to buy diamonds in what will be the final stage of the relocation of a $6 billion a year business from London to Gaborone.

As part of a 2011 sales and marketing agreement, De Beers and government agreed to relocate DTC International’s aggregation, sales and marketing activities to Botswana.

This is part of valiant plans to transform Gaborone into a diamond centre in the mould of cities such as Mumbai, and Antwerp.
