Botswana Prepares To Retrieve Stolen Archives

Botswana is hoping to soon be able to lean on international conventions to call on former colonial master Britain and other countries to return looted cultural property.

Three conventions that Botswana ratified in the 50's, 70's and 90's have been identified as pivotal in enabling the country reclaim its cultural property now in the diaspora.

According to a communication from the Ministry of Environment Wildlife and Tourism the Department of National Museum and Monument is facilitating the ratification of the 1954, 1970 and 1995 conventions in order to add to the preventative measures against looting of Cultural Property.
