BOPEU to petition Batshu on May Day

Botswana Public Employees Union (BOPEU) will on May Day petition minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Edwin Batshu against job loses, making all public sector work essential service and the Trade Dispute Amendment Bill.

According to the union’s second deputy president for Gender and Youth, Ogaufi Masame, they have joined forces with the Botswana Federation of Trade Unions (BFTU) to commemorate the day, held under the theme, ‘Celebrating Workers Successes in the wake of the 50th Anniversary of Independence’.

Masame said they would begin the day with a march from the Tsholofelo Park in Gaborone where the main activities would be held to deliver a petition at the Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs at 0630 hours.
