BOPEU sues BEC over salary disparities

Botswana Public Employees Union (BOPEU) has taken the Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) to court for failing to address salary disparities among its staff despite a resolution reached in 2013.

The union said after trying all available avenues, it is now seeking full compliance with the governing council structure of BEC resolution of June 19, 2013 that sought to remove salary disparities among its staff.

In a notice of motion filed before Gaborone High Court Justice Zein Kebonang, BOPEU which represents some BEC employees said they have engaged BEC since 2012 on salary disparities that existed among its staff.
