FRANCISTOWN: The Botswana Mine Workers Union (BMWU), which has representatives in the ongoing probe into the death of four workers at BCL Mine, plans to sue the mine should any information be uncovered suggesting negligence.

The four miners perished recently when a cage transporting 10 end-of-shift workers snapped. Three of the injured miners are still admitted at the Selebi-Phikwe mine hospital with two currently referred to the Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital and one transferred to the Gaborone Private Hospital.

“We have a comprehensive plan because we are part of the investigations to establish what really happened at the BCL mine that resulted in the deaths of four people with six others receiving various degrees of injuries. It will depend on the findings of what happened on the fateful evening,” BMWU president, Jack Tlhagale said yesterday.
