BMWU drags Moolman Mine to court

FRANCISTOWN: Botswana Mine Workers Union (BMWU) is going to court after the collapse of retrenchment negotiations with Moolmans Aveng Mining Company.

Moolmans does excavations for Tati Nickel Mining Company and since last year the mine has been having frequent retrenchments, something that worries the union. The union’s general secretary, Mbiganyi Ramokate, said management breached the spirit of negotiations and failed to attend to the union’s retrenchment requests.

He said that was why BMWU decided to go to the Industrial Court so that their members could be compensated accordingly.
