The Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) interim leadership has undertaken to clear party chairman Gomolemo Motswaledi's legal expenses. The bill was at one time said to have run into millions of Pula.

Responding to a question on the issue at a press conference on Wednesday in Gaborone, BMD treasurer Guma Moyo said though the letter-head of the legal bill is in Motswaledi's name, "the bill is ours, who instructed Motswaledi to lead us to court.

We haven't paid, but we'll climb the trees and pay. Motswaledi won't suffer alone. It wasn't about him, but all of us. We are working on it and as some of you here know, we have figures (money) to do so. Even if they can attach, at the end we will pay," he said.
