Beef export to EU suspended

The Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) has suspended beef export to the European Union (EU) and trading partners following the incursion of buffalo at Moreane in Letlhakane East, Southern District.

Buffaloes are considered to be the carriers of the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD).

It was reported earlier that a buffalo attacked two Kanye men who were looking for their cattle on Sunday.  The two men were admitted to hospital and discharged on Monday after receiving treatment for their injuries. The buffalo has since been killed.
