BDP youth saga deepens

Divisions within the Botswana Democratic Party National Youth Executive Committee (BDPNYEC) deepened yesterday as it emerged that last Friday’s a no-confidence vote in the chairman was spurred, in part, by his alleged failure to convene a congress.

The organisation’s 20th Congress, due to be held this weekend in Masunga, was cancelled at the last minute.

Andy Boatile, who insists that he remains BDPNYEC chair, is also accused of failing to communicate and provide feedback on the central committee meetings he attends. NYEC members reportedly voted Boatile out last Friday and replaced him with Riggert Moroka.
