BDP to hold primary elections for Tonota North

The embattled Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) is expected to hold primary elections in the Tonota North constituency following the death of the area MP, Baledzi Gaolathe.

The BDP spokesman, Segaetsho Garekwe confirmed that they are going to stage primary elections to choose a candidate who will represent them in the subsequent by-election.  However, he said, they have not set the date for the primary elections.   Garekwe said no candidates have yet applied to contest the primary elections.  He said interested people will only apply after a date has been set.

The BDP official said they are doing things in a humane manner as they will soon send a delegation to Tonota North to tell the people about the death of Gaolathe.
