The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) has announced dates for their primary elections, targeting 19 opposition-held constituencies and wards. The primaries will be held in 2017. BDP secretary general, Botsalo Ntuane said the recently held special congress in Mogoditshane decided that the party primaries for the constituencies and wards be held in October 2017.

“We have decided to begin with the 19 opposition-held constituencies in October 2017 so that the candidates have time to campaign and prepare for general elections,” he said.

Ntuane said the registration for cut off for the areas has been slated for June 30, 2017 before the commencement of submission of applications to branch committees by aspirant candidates from the July 1-17, 2017.
