The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) Central Committee has finally granted the MP for Tonota South, Pono Moatlhodi a reprieve to contest next year's general elections.

The move came after a BDP Central Committee meeting held earlier in the day. The committee met with a delegation from Tonota, which was sent to apologise on behalf of the MP and seek clemency.

The BDP stated that the MP was given a final warning about his behaviour after he was vetted out by the Tonota branch committee from contesting the primary elections.
