BDP disqualifies aspiring councillors

The Central Committee of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) disqualified five members on Monday from contesting council primaries saying that they had not resigned from the public service at the time of the vetting process.

The party had advised members who wanted to contest primaries to resign from the civil service before the vetting process.

The decision follows an appeal by the disqualified individuals after  their respective branch committees denied them the opportunity to contest primaries.
