BDF may see action in Somalia

Botswana has not yet received any communication from the AU requesting for troops in Somalia, Minister of Defence, Justice and Security Dikgakgamatso Seretse told Mmegi yesterday.

As part of our international commitment we are always ready to take part in any international intervention that is aimed at bringing about peace in the world, said Seretse.

This follows the 11 October AU endorsement to increase more troops to the AU Mission in Somalia (AMISOM). The mission will  be boosted by 6,235 troops, taking the total number to 23,966, according to the AU's Peace and Security Council.
