BCP to use private members bills for debate

Botswana Congress Party president Dumelang Saleshando has said that his party has decided to use private members' bills to effectively engage government in parliament.

Speaking at a press conference held yesterday in Tlokweng, Saleshando announced that when parliament opens next month, he will present two bills; one on Freedom of Information and the other on HIV/AIDS and Employment.

"The workplace has become another place for discrimination. Sometimes people are dismissed because they are HIV positive, whilst others are even fired just because they are suspected to be HIV positive. Some people have come to me with these complaints," he said.
