BCL mine disaster: Bosses were warned

FRANCISTOWN: The Botswana Mine Workers Union (BMWU) has described the Sunday evening BCL mine fatality that claimed four lives as a disaster that waited for too long to happen.

BMWU general secretary, Mbiganyi Ramokate has challenged the BCL mine management to own up to the disaster that saw a cage transporting 10 end-of-shift workers snapping. Six miners survived the disaster but escaped with various degrees of injuries.

Three of the injured miners are still admitted at the Selebi-Phikwe BCL mine hospital with two currently referred to the Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital and one transferred to the Gaborone Private Hospital.
