BBS Announces Profits Despite Turbulant Market

Botswana Building Society has announced P24.1 million profit and declared P30.6 million as dividends paid to members, a one percent increase from the P30.2 million paid to members in the corresponding period last year.

The society’s revenue in the first six months of their financial year hit P90.3 million, compared to P87.8 million at the same period last year.

However, BBS’s P24.1 million profit announced in the first six months of the financial year is in contrast 15% lower than their profit in the corresponding period last year, noted BBS’s CEO, Pius Molefe in the company’s half year results report. Despite the stressed markets, BBS was happy to report  growth in members’ funds, the indefinite period shares and  paid up and subscription shares that yielded P1,409,296, six percent higher than at the same time last year, further indicating the growing confidence customers continue to show in BBS.
