Battle for McCarthy's Rust resumes

Residents of McCarthy's Rust east of Tsabong have pleaded with their Member of Parliament (MP) to seek audience with the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development to address issues affecting them.

The request came in during a Kgotla meeting recently hosted by Kgalagadi South MP, John Toto. The residents advanced their intention to dialogue with the Minister on government’s failure to have McCarthy’s Rust recognised as a village, should Toto set the meeting up.

McCarthy’s Rust is still classified as a cattle post (pastoral farming) decades after the Lobatse High Court ruled in favour of the area being recognised as a village.
