Batlokwa protest awarding land to 'outsiders'

Batlokwa deputy Paramount Chief, Michael 'Spokes' Gaborone, has confirmed that some Batlokwa have formerly complained to his office after only three indigenous names appeared on the shortlist of 300, who were scheduled to be awarded residential plots in Tlokweng early this week.

This comes against the background of the cancellation of allocations by the Tlokweng Land Board last week which had been scheduled for Monday and Tuesday this week, although its Secretary, Neo Mothobi, subsequently denied any pressure from Batlokwa.

Kgosi Michael Gaborone told Mmegi yesterday that since the shortlist was published, Batlokwa had been frequenting both his office and the Kgosikgolo's (paramount chief) to complain that only three Batlokwa were on the shortlist, while the rest were outsiders.
