Chartered architect, urban designer, and arbitrator, Lekwalo Mosienyane, spoke at the 2023 Dithubaruba Cultural Festival Symposium, held at Lemepe Lodge on Thursday, saying “spirits of the deceased or Badimo reside at the Kgotla”.

During the symposium, which centred around the theme ‘The Space and Place of the Kgotla Among Bakwena,’ Mosienyane emphasised the cultural significance of the Kgotla in Setswana tradition.

The Kgotla, a horseshoe-shaped structure made of logs, plays a vital role as it serves as a dwelling for the spirits of the deceased or Badimo, according to Setswana customs.
