LOBATSE: Two armed robbers were remanded in custody after they allegedly stole a Toyota Corolla and later robbed Barcelos restaurant in Lobatse at gunpoint on Thursday.

This week Magistrate Galaletsang Ramokate denied bail to the duo, Tshimologo (34) of Gaborone and Tshepo Batshabane (22) of Lobatse. They allegedly robbed one Amos Mogufo of a Toyota Corolla before proceeding to rob Barcelos restaurant at gunpoint. Even though charges of attempted murder were not put against the perpetrators at their appearance before court, they are linked with an incident where they exchanged gun fire with the police in Lobatse on Friday where they were ultimately arrested.

One of the accused is said to be recuperating in hospital after sustaining an injury on his arm during the exchange of fire with the police and did not appear before the court. Police said the suspect is likely to be amputated due to the seriousness of the injury.
