FRANCISTOWN: A man facing a single count of killing his girlfriend has been denied bail in a separate case in which he allegedly threatened to kill his new girlfriend.

The state alleges that Lethogile Lenkokame, 30, threatened to kill his girlfriend at Donga location on June 7.

The prosecution argued that it is not safe to grant the accused bail because he committed another offence whilst still on bail for murder, which if found guilty, he may face a maximum sentence of capital punishment. Inspector Mengistu Chigala told the court that Lenkokame’s docket would soon be sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for prosecution. Chigala said that the accused, a security officer at Security Systems is delaying the matter to go for prosecution because he is refusing to give a confession statement.
