116 graduates sponsored through RADP

A total 116 people have graduated from institutions of higher learning after being sponsored through the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development's (MLGRD) Remote Area Development Programme (RADP), Parliament heard this week.


Since its inception, the programme of positive discrimination has seen 40 youths armed with qualifications from teacher training institutions, 22 from Institutions of Health Sciences, 18 from the Botswana College of Agriculture and 36 from the University of Botswana. These graduates were from six of Boswana’s seven districts that have Remote Area Development Settlements (RADS). Specifically Kgalagadi District had eight beneficiaries, Kweneng four, the Southern District eight, Ghanzi 18, the North West nine and the Central District 69 graduates. Answering a question from the MP for the Okavango, Bagalatia Arone, MLGRD Assistant Minister Tshireletso Botlhogile said there were no graduates from Kgatleng to-date.
