In recent years female athletes in Botswana have struggled to qualify or perform well at international competitions. The women team is now showing signs of improvement as they gear for the World Athletics Relays that have been penciled for the National Stadium in Gaborone from May 2 to 3. Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) has released a strong squad that has reported for camp in Orapa.

Head coach, Mogomotsi Otsetswe told Sport Monitor that he is impressed by the performance of the women team ahead of the competition and believes that they will deliver.

“Women athletes have the potential of running 51s or even 52s. That is a good performance and they will reach peak at the perfect time. The women are bouncing back strongly,” Otsetswe said.
