Despite turning 50 years this year and having been in the music industry for three decades, Afro-pop musician Yvonne Chaka Chaka, is still able to keep her performances energetic.

This past weekend she performed at Ditshupo Hall during the Miss Africa Botswana 2015 grand finale. Her performance was well received evidenced by the crowd’s reaction as soon as she hopped onto the stage. The crowd stood up and started dancing, while singing along to her songs.

Chaka Chaka took the audience down memory lane with her old classic hits such as I’m Burning Up, I’ m In-love With The DJ and Thank You Mr. DJ. Her performance started with slow jams such as Kana Uchema and Unity.

She then decided to sing her hit tracks such as Umqombothi, at which point she decided to interact with the audience, showcasing some of her dance moves

The African Princess performed hit after hit, pulling stunts throughout her time on stage. While performing her Motherland she went to the edge of the stage, entreating fans to touch her if they are really enjoying the show.  “Ntshwarang,” she called out.

Chaka Chaka interacted with the crowd throughout her performance, while telling the crowd she wanted to be closer.

She spiced up by performing the late Brenda Fassie’s songs Vulindlela and Weekend Special.  She was surprised that the predominatly young audience was singing along to her music word for word. Her energetic performance forced the crowd to abandon their seats and create their dance floor next to the stage.

After a lengthy performance she retired from the stage leaving the audience yearning for more.
