MAUN: Renowned writer Lauri Kubuitsile recently launched her novel ‘The Scattering’ which is a gruesome story of war and love.

The book recounts the fate of two women refugees subjected to human suffering of wars. The two women, Tjipuka and Riette from different backgrounds, face similar incarceration in concentration camps.

In the novel Kubuitsile recollects the historic account of Herero-Germans and British colonial liberation wars in Namibia and South Africa, intertwining it with intimacies of love. The Scattering reminds readers of how Herero people were dispersed into Botswana, something that has become a historical tie between the two neighbouring nations.  Up to 100,000 Herero people died during the war and some were displaced to Botswana.
