Queen Esther returns to Gaborone

The annual Queen Esther beauty pageant is the Christianity-inspired contest aimed at providing a platform for Christian women to participate in a pageant which upholds Christian values. The contest is inspired by the story of Esther in the Bible who took part and won a beauty contest.
The contest was founded in 2010 by former Miss Malaika Botswana, Vehae Tjiriange. Tjiriange won Miss Malaika Botswana in 2005 and competed in the Miss Global International in 2006 where she was crowned first princess. “When I competed in Jamaica for Miss Global, I got inspired to start a beauty pageant that upholds Christian values so the dream became Queen Esther,” she said.
It underscores the indispensable role women play in our society, particularly in building strong households and nurturing families.
