Poor attendance at the Bon Fire Camp Out

In what was supposed to be a curtain raiser for the Desert Race on Friday, the Monate Khokho’s Bon Fire Camp Out Festival flopped due to poor attendance.Only countable people attended the festival, which was held at Gare’s Farm (between Sese and Jwaneng). Despite the festival being headlined by African Roots and DJ Shimza of South Africa, they were not pullers of a larger crowd as expected.

The venue, added to the festival woes since was difficult to find and was not easily accessible for certain vehicles.  Moreover, most people did not arrive for the desert race until Saturday morning.

Despite the event being dubbed ‘Bon Fire Camp Out’ there was no bon fire in place and the few people who were there had to gather around the smaller fires that were not even a metre tall. There was a long session of DJ performances and the only artist to perform on stage was African Roots.
