How Fifi Cooper broke into the male dominated rap game

Since its inception in the late 70s and early 80s the rap game has always been dominated by males with only a few women such as Missy Elliot and Eve standing their ground. Locally, few female rappers, among them Sasa Klaas and Danielle Swagger, have struggled, though with some success, to have their voices heard amid the din created by the sounds of male rappers.

However, Motswako’s first lady, Fifi Cooper, is one of the few Femcees that have sensationally etched their names with an indelible ink on the rap world map.  It was only last year when she shot skyward with her debut album 20FIFI, which has received massive airplay in Southern Africa. 

The 25-year-old red-hot songstress from from Mafikeng was in town this past weekend and readily shared how she has managed to break the barriers and stand her ground as a woman in a male dominated industry.
