Lone Gaumakwe, a young Motswana artist based in Selebi-Phikwe is exploring art to tell people’s different stories. He captures people’s emotions and special moments where he tells stories through their expressions.

He creates portrait drawings primarily with charcoal and graphite pencils on paper.

In an interview with Arts&Culture, he explained that he had always been fascinated by the way art captures the beauty and complexities of life. Gaumakwe also said he was inspired to start drawing by seeing the work of other artists and by wanting to express his thoughts and feelings through art. “I am a self-taught artist.
