From humble beginnings to stardom

Growing up in a humble and disciplined family television presenter, Neelo Oppedal, did not know that her background would make her dreams of being a star come true.

The 23-year-old burst into the entertainment scene late last year as a TV host for one of the most watched programmes on Botswana television, Pula Power.

She came as an underdog, and many people did not know her, but she quickly got a lot of attention from viewers, and became one of the favourites.

A promising step for public schools, but...

For too long, the state of many public schools has been a source of shame. We have all seen the pictures and heard the stories of broken windows, unreliable water and electricity, topped by classrooms that are not fit for proper learning. The establishment of the Education Infrastructure and Management Company Ltd (EIMC) signals that authorities are finally ready to take this problem seriously. We must commend the government for this initiative....
