Local producer and Disc Jockey, DJ Ricque, has collaborated for a new single titled Spirit. In the song, which dropped on May 9, the duo features another artist, Frost Legato.

In an interview with Arts&Culture, he explained that the song is an infusion of Kalanga and English and speaks about not giving up on love and trusting in God for one to find true love against all odds. DJ Ricque produced the song while Didie composed the lyrics. The single was recorded at Beat Factory Music in Kopong. Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, he explained that as Didie was coming from a divorce, finding healing, she began to believe that the Jack and Rose love and the Romeo and Juliet love still exist somewhere for everyone.

As a Christian, DJ Ricque said he trusts that the Holy Spirit is always in control of their lives, only if they ask it to lead them. He explained that he met Didie in 2014 and realised and decided they could work together. “That’s when we recorded our first track titled Give Me More. However, because life changed, he said they lost contact and met again last year, that was when they decided to bring a massive comeback with a new track, Spirit, featuring Frost Legato. So far, DJ Ricque has released five singles, including Spirit, while Didie has three under her name. The pair has proven to work well together and has the potential to give the public the music they crave. Despite his experience, DJ Ricque says he has struggled to get the big break and to get bookings. However, he hopes the current song will give them the break, as the reception has been amazing. He said they have received great support from Park 27.
