South African based Motswana DJ from Thamaga, Ngwazi has revealed that his popular song Uthando in which he collaborated with Master KG is a build up to his upcoming album.

Real name Lushen Kebatlege, DJ Ngwazi who has been Master KG’s DJ since 2019, released Uthando late last year. But the song managed to catch momentum in the busy festive season and got revellers grooving. The song showed that he is not just a DJ for one of South Africa’s most popular music artists but an artist of note. In the song, he features contributions from Nokwazi, Lowsheen and Caltonic SA. In an interview with Arts & Culture this week, DJ Ngwazi said he will drop the new album on January 22.

He also said he will drop the second single before the album release date. “I want to enter the South African Music Awards (SAMA) this year no wonder I needed this album,” he said. Detailing how Uthando came about, he revealed that as they played various beats in the studio, Nokwazi couldn’t relate to the song at first but they then had to translate the lyrics for everything to work out. He said they didn’t really see any huge potential for the song because it was already late in the festive season when it was released. “Then the song started trending on TikTok and the song exploded in Namibia first before other southern African countries.
