FRANCISTOWN: Zimbabwean sungura musician, Alick Macheso will perform at the Francistown Old Stadium on April 29, 2022 at a festival dubbed African Music United Concert whose organisers say will promote cultural exchange through music and dance.

An innovative musician, Macheso is amongst the best bass guitarist to emerge from Zimbabwe. He is credited for inventing various sounds and dances. Sungura dance and music is derived from another genre called Kanindo, but it owes its existence to Macheso.

The legendary Zimbabwean artist burst onto the music scene in 1998 with his debut album, Magariro, which carried "Pakutema Munda", probably the least noticeable from the album. The show, which is organised by BeyondBrian Entertainment, is expected to attract thousands of locals and Zimbabweans. In an interview with Arts and Culture, BeyondBrian Entertainment spokesperson, Lungisani 'Morefire' Marudu said the extravaganza show is aimed at promoting exchanges in the fields of music, culture and dance.
