Diamond Melodies, a choral choir group is hosting an event dubbed Clash of Nations Concert for people who for the longest time have been yearning for something different.

The event is set to be held tomorrow (Saturday) at Mantlwaneng Theater, Westwood International School in Phase 4.

The director of Clash of Nations Concert, Oarabile Bafitlhile, stated that the concert is more than just a concert as it aims to unite Southern African countries through melodies.

“The background of this concept is to bring the best choirs from different countries, especially SADC, under one roof to showcase their talent and cultural exchange aspect,” he said.

In its in inaugural element, Bafitlhile explained that so far they have decided to only start small with only a few SADC countries though the intention is to have them all in future.

“This will be its inception and only three choirs have been invited to participate,” Bafitlhile said.

“The three choirs are KTM Choir from Botswana under the baton of Maestro Philimon Mataela who’s also a Composer and an Orchestrator, Kopano Chorus from South Africa under the baton of Maestro Monty Manamela and The Lesotho Chorus from Lesotho under the baton of Maestro Vumile Nomanyama,” he said.

Bafitlhile explained that this is not a competition of nations, but a night of blissful melodies that will serenade the audience throughout the event.

“It is a festival not a competition though choirs will be competing with their music which they choose themselves and the choirs will render their repertoire one after the other and we are going to have two sessions,” he said.

The tickets for the event are selling at P200 standard and P500 for a VIP ticket.
