Organisers of the Toropo Ya Muka (TYM) music festival announced that the weekend's edition was the last PIC LESEDI MKHUTSWA
The event, which set the city alight for the last 10 years, attracted hordes of revelers from all corners of the city and surrounding areas. Around 5pm, traffic was already congested going into Obed Itani Chilume because of the massive line-up. There was enthusiasm of people singing, strolling down the street, and cars beeping in the traffic showing their excitement. The jam-packed event got off to a great start with local DJs on set playing Hip-hop, R&B, classic house, Lekompo, Amapiano and traditional music. Music lovers were in for a treat as they got to witness the headliners performances from South African Lekompo stars, Janesh and Abi WA Mampela, who gave all the attendants something to write home about. Depression was one of the other songs that people were pleased with. People were unable to contain their excitement during the artists' performance on stage, and many were observed jumping on their cooler box to ensure they did not miss any performances. Chokoma, Juu Matere,MC Maswe,Latimmy, Lioness Ratang, Charma Gal, Ancestral Rituals, ATI, C-RU and Dr Vom were the stars of the show. The local performers did not let fans down with their well-rehearsed and polished performances, which sent many TYM fans into frenzy.
The revelers had a memorable night thanks to the local DJs including DJ Bunz, DJ Missy, DJ Gouveia and Robotic. When addressing the media recently at Cresta Thapama hotel, TYM music festival director, Bonno Ngaka, popularly known as Colastraw in the music circle, praised the government, media, musicians and Batswana in general for their consistent support from the beginning of TYM. “We have grown this brand together and it has become what it is today because of you. While I know this news will be heartbreaking for many, I am also sad to announce that this year’s TYM edition will be our 10th and final festival,” he added. In conclusion, Colastraw alluded to the saying, "A good dancer knows when to leave the stage and sometimes too much of a good thing diminishes its value.”
