GCC re-employs 90 fired essential services workers

The process of re-employing 90 essential services workers who were fired for engaging in the public sector strike has started, says Gaborone City Council (GCC) mayor Veronica Lesole.

Addressing the full council this week Monday, Lesole said the re-employment of the affected workers is ongoing.

She said of the 90 workers, 71 are from the Fire Department while 19 are from Electrical Division. The 90 workers involved were part of the public sector strike that lasted eight weeks and resulted in those said to fall under essential services getting fired.
