A local small retail-online store dubbed Blues owned by two young Batswana namely, Botho Mmutle and Tsarona Rakwadi has added lounge wear sets to its merchandise.
The duo that started small through just selling t-shirts have expanded their business by introducing beautiful lounge wear sets made for ‘his and her’s’. The sets are warm and gorgeous while adding a bit of spice in the lounge. These can also be used as pyjamas. They are ideal for winter as well.
In an interview with Arts & Culture, Mmutle said their main inspiration was the passion she always had for fashion and glamour hence her decision to venture into fashion and beauty businesses. She also explained that the careers they chose require them to dress in a very stylish manner to get clients and supporters. “COVID-19 has affected our lives financially hence the establishment of Blues.
For now we make lounge-wear, street wear and casual outfits. We are looking forward to growing into making more fashion styles. We mainly use mohair and cotton-throw fabric for the lounge-wear and street wear sets, we get them from local shops,” she said.
Mmutle added that they target people between the ages of 18 to 50 years. She also said they wish to grow it into a big store with branches all around
Furthermore, she asserted that COVID-19 has affected their casual and street-wear category since customers rarely ever go out to socialise and have meetings. She also pointed out that their main challenge was finding a good space in town for business.
Mmutle is a 21-year-old from Metsimotlhabe village. She is also a makeup artist, model at Juice Promotions Model Management, hairstylist, self-taught designer and a former student of Botho University. She specialises with special effects makeup and glam makeovers. Her makeup business is called Pearl’s Makeover Parlor and it has been operating since 2018. Meanwhile, Rakwadi is a 24-year-old from Tobane village. He is a postgraduate from DDT College of Medicine. He is also a recording artist whose stage name is Henry Waynic. He is also a stylist at Blues.
The duo thanked the local community for their immense and continued support in the journey of growing their clothing line. They can be contacted in their Facebook page @blues and Instagram@blues_bw.
