Zambia's ruling party at war

LUSAKA: The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) party has been forced into an embarrassed silence following the death in Lusaka of a youth wing member in faction clashes as internal feud seems to reach breaking point.

It was the most violent clash so far between the two factions in the governing party, giving an indication of a party increasingly at odds with itself.

The fight broke out on November 8 in the Zambian capital, the day that President Michael Sata commissioned the expansion and modernisation works at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka. Members of both factions traveled to the event, but one group was waylaid on the airport road.
