JWANENG: As Jwaneng prepares to celebrate 35 years of existence as the host of a mine that produces a precious stone which has sustained the economy of the country for decades and as the momentum of the silver jubilee celebrations accelerate, there are undoubtly people who have contributed immensely to making the country what it is today.

One of them is the town’s longest serving councillor who knows the history of Jwaneng like the back of his hand. It is safe to say when politics meet passion, you are sure of results and that is what best describes Jwaneng Town Council’s Bankinyana Montsiemang of Thamaga.

He has served in all scopes in the hierarchies of the local authority but he started from humble beginnings. Having arrived in the mining town 33 years ago when he was employed as a messenger at the education office, Montsiemang is a force to reckon with.
