'The annual Domboshaba Festival is on the right track'

More and more, Bkalanga are rallying behind the view that the decision to discontinue the teaching of Ikalanga in public schools in 1972 was a political one that will need a political approach to resolve, writes EDWARD BULE

DOMBOSHABA: The Domboshaba Cultural Festival has been held annually since 2000 with the objective of preserving the Ikalanga language and culture.

Over the years, there have been debates as to whether the event has achieved either of its original objectives. Many are worried that the objectives might have been forgotten as people who go there seem preoccupied with eating, drinking and seeking marital partners.
